Chuck, not in the State of Michigan mate, if a perp is shot in the act of committing a crime against you he/she cannot make a lawsuit out of it, likewise if you shoot and kill as long as it's a legal shoot the relatives cannot come after you either. Some lady last year tried to sue a CCW permit holder after her son and his buddy (who were both good boys really who both loved their Mommys when they weren't high on crack) tried to kick in the door of the permit holders home. He shot them both dead mate. Case didn't even get to court mate even though it was a civil lawsuit. For once the law is on the side of the law abiding and not the trash. We have had this law now for nearly two years. As well as my house it also covers any buildings on my property of which I have two

More and more States are adopting this policy as law in their States as well.
My V22 worked well with mini mags and blazers,

I now have a GSG 5 and Blazers work a treat as did the last of the Minimags. I haven't tried anything else yet. Most semi autos need a good powerful cartidge to make sure the cycling works properly

On the other hand for my C Z Silhouette bolt action with a moddy I use Remmy T22 for indoor target work, they are quiet enough.
Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.

Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.

They said forcing their children to take part in the exercise at Alsager High School, near Stoke-on-Trent - which included wearing Muslim headgear - was a breach of their human rights.
Agreed, My SGC V22 hated Magtech but would cycle T22 OK. Try a few before buying a load of ammo that may not make you or your gun happy.
Berretta, just on the point you made about shooting criminals, some one made a remark about shooting them in the legs and other such movie stuff.

Well I think Blu will back me here but if you do THAT to some perp you will be sued for every cent you have and then some. Excessive force, unnecessary suffering, deliberate attempts to cripple and maim someone. Some guy gets brought into a civil court in a wheelchair, bleeds his veins on his deprtived childhood, how he was "from the block" etc etc and if he ha dbeen given the chance he would not have stolen the stuff, only this dude blew my legs off for revenge.

Bye Bye all your assets and money, given the willingness of judges and juries to fall for any sob story, sending a guy into court in a wheel chair WILL go against you big style.

Nope, dead is dead and you can argue failure to stop after two warning shots to the cernter body - which is why you fired the last shot into the hard drive and shut down his whole damn computer..
NONE mate, THEY the CRIMINALS CHOSE TO DO IT. They CHOSE to get a gun from wherever and USE it for a CRIMINAL ACT for which they may pay with their lives.

NOW then, why should society suffer as a result of criminals, just like YOU and many others were pubnished for the actions of TWO people. Do YOU think that is fair, I don't after all things have only become WORSE haven't they.

And for all our laws are a disaster it does NOT deter criminals from getting and using firearms does it? Of course not, bans only affect the law abiding, like US!
Marc, Hatsans don't fall apart - unless they have been poorly maintained (or buggered about with - whatever ) by people who should leave well alone if they cannot be botherd puting it back together again properly. LoL,
However, by stating so in such a public manner has given the impression that Sharia Law, or parts there of, are acceptable and can be adopted.

This forms the basis of a "drip-drip" into the public conscience and so, the concept, then seems the norm.

This was aptly demonstrated in the final days of the last conservative government, when the white paper for ID cards was discovered in a second hand shop, in a filing cabinet that had been condemed by the civil service. All manner of ministers at the time, including the then Home Secretary, Michael Howard, shouted from the roof tops that ID cards would never happen.

Now the debate seems to be what will go on the card and not the introduction...... I said above, the thin end of the wedge.
There's been so much misunderstanding of this that it's worth stating the basic principle. It's always been open to adults in this country to agree to arbitration of dispute between them on any principles they want provided it does not contravene the general law. This is exactly what happens if a club arbitrates on who won a competition. If Fred reckons Joe beat him in the club golf tournament by cheating, then the committee applies the laws of golf and adjudicates.

Mining disputes have been decide using mining codes, financial disputes using law merchantile and religious disputes using religious principles. Lord Phillips is only stating what has been the law for a couple of hundred years.
Don't panic Sid, it's only a matter of time before we see public executions being carried out again on British soil. It may be another 100 years but it's going to happen at some stage.
Many thanks for the info to all!
I seam to get more favorable reviews than bad on these guns. I however have just been offered a Beretta semi. Very clean for £450. Just off to sell my soul on ebay to see if I can get the extra funds together before it is sold. If that goes, then I may plump for the Escort. The cartridge info was also useful. Thanks folks!
.22 semis can be very particular about the ammo they prefer and it varies from gun to gun! Try as many different types of ammo as you can to find which one yours prefers. I have two .22 semis and they both prefer different types!
Sounds like a great day out. You're very lucky having a wife who shoots. Mine is very supportive because she knows I enjoy it, and she never objects to me buying a new toy, but she won't come near a range with me.

Stickledown can be a strange experience. Sometimes you can be the only person on the range, and then some people appear hundreds of yards in front of you cutting the grass off to one side.
as reported the proposed courts would run along the lines of the Jewish courts that have been with us for 100 years. The Beth Din hears only civil disputes. The court can only act if both sides agree. Both parties to the dispute must be Jewish ... I suspect that few non Jewish Britons are/were aware of Beth Din.
Jenks, good morning to you sir, don't know if you noticed that on the death row link the majority were hispanics, wonder how many were illegals, also one must ask how many of those murders were committed with a legally held firearm. As a Scot living here I'm the first to admit that the US can be a violent place to live (and judging from our last visit to the UK 2 years back plus what I see and read in the news the UK is fast catching up).

However I feel you are generalising when it comes to CCW based on events in Texas. Here in Michigan. State Police reports indicate that 2,178 permits have been revoked or suspended since 2001 - 2008 slightly more than 1% of those issued. Now keep in mind that a CCW permit can be revoked for a whole shed load of stuff, ie drunk driving, driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and believe mate the list goes on. After the Supreme Court ruling last week on the DC ban the Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said that in his time as a Police Officer, A Prosecuting Attorney and as the Attorney General he has not heard or had reported to him any violent crimes with firearms being committed by a Michigan CCW permit holder.

Let me give you an insight into my mentality Jenks. No piece of human trash is going to stop me in the street and demand my wallet, no piece of human trash is going to hijack my truck at the traffic lights, no piece of human trash is going to come into my home with the intent of stealing from me, no piece of human trash is going to harm in any way any member of my family. Not while I have breath in my body.

The human trash out there would love nothing better than for the anti's to get their way, it would make their miserable existances so much easier. Well Jenks if the sh1t ever does hit my fan and I pray it never does, I may go down, but I tell you mate I'll go down fighting, at least the law here allows me to do that unlike the law in the UK were a victim is like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car, helpless.
Good morning.

#Sorry to say it Jenks but when it comes to the Conceal Carry of weapons, you don't know what your talking about. " #

Of course I don't , how could I, I have never lived in a society that permitted its citizens to carry concealed weapons. I can only go by what I read or see on the news etc. I don’t like what I read or see!
Let me tell you that when I saw your death row link I was really shocked. I had absolutely no idea that there were so many people waiting to be executed. One of the things that struck me was the high number of murders committed with firearms. Surely this has to be in part down to the fact that Texas is awash with them and easily available to all, irrespective of the suitability the potential holder. As to the mentality of those who carry concealed weapons I just wonder how many are of a similar mind set to Mr Horn. or see the gun as a Macho accoutrement. Having said all that I think if I lived in such a society I might be persuaded to carry one,. out of fear. Thankfully I don’t. It is also worrying that we in the UK seem to adopt American practises with relish, the good and the bad. Generally speaking I think our gun laws are good. The banning of pistols and self loading rifles was wrong. Typical knee jerk reaction to two horrific incidents, carried out by madmen both of whom were licenced firearms holders. I am glad that firearms in the UK remain relatively difficult to acquire. It remains my opinion that we have no need here for concealed carry nor for a personal protection fiream clause except in very rare circumstances (northern ireland politicians spring to mind). We do however need more proactive policing to remove illegal firearms and more robust, nay draconian sentencing of offenders.
Jenks, The VPC, Hmmm, Let me tell you something about the Violence Policy Center. one of the big anti gun organizations here in the US.

The VPC uses information freely available to the public from the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrive at their statistics. While their numbers are correct, they fail to distinguish between arrests and convictions. More importantly, they fail to compare the arrest rates for Texas permit holders to the public at large.

The best indicator of whether licensees pose an unusual threat to public safety is the number of licenses revoked. License revocations most often result from offenses having nothing to do with weapons, such as drunk driving, credit card abuse or even failure to repay student loans. In Texas the average revocation rate is fifteen one-hundredths of one percent annually. (Oklahoma's annual average revocation rate is ten one-hundredths of one percent, and Florida's is twelve one-thousandths of one percent). To put these figures into perspective, FBI Uniform Crime Report numbers show that five percent of the general public is arrested each year for offenses for which CCW permit holders would suffer revocation."

Jenks over here mate drunk driving, automatic revocation Of CCW permit, credit card fraud, same punishment, hey bounce a cheque for over a $100 knowing you can't cover it, bye bye CCW.

Sorry to say it Jenks but when it comes to the Conceal Carry of weapons, you don't know what your talking about.

Neither...they're both rubbish. If you want to find a good semi auto that will continue to work regardless of environment, mud, etc then ask wildfowlers for their opinions.

Some guys in my wildfowling club and others nearby bought hatsans and webleys when they first came out. Just about everyone of them has regretted it with the guns refusing to cycle, siezing or falling apart in the salt and mud.

A good solid gun that will continue to work in all conditions regardless of how much you abuse it - the Baikal MP153. I bought one and soon got rid of my Benelli and Beretta semi autos.

I challenge either of the two guns to match the baikal in the test below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhBQ1I9bUik

Also, baikal did a test where they put 10,000 shells through an MP153 in one continuous test without any mechanical failure. They only stopped to occassionally clean and oil the gun (and give the barrel a chance to cool). You can see that vid on their webpage.
I have great sympathy for the Jews, but I would have them adhere to the laws of the land. If any person of any denomination would like to live here, can fill the criteria for staying and they are prepared to work and live by the law of the land, fine. If not I would ask them to vacate our Country forthwith.

I would have a system, of some description, for how many people we allow into GB. We are a small island and the level of people entering the Country must be reduced.
Jenks - two strings of 5 with 5 minutes in-betweens - flyer was the last one. We were on target 30 and it behaved very nicely, no issues at all with the AI

Stickledown is scary! people on low numbers at 1000, people at high numbers moving from 900 to 1000 and some down on 800 as well but all in all very relaxed and the gaps were nice and big between us, one issue I had was identifying the ranges, at that distance it is hard to tell if you are at 1000 or 1100 but there were people at the extreme right with buggies and cars so I drove down directly behind them to ask - Ooppps! They were some chaps with England jackets on - very nice but told me cars were taboo below 1000 but I did get some pointers on where to park so I know now.

For me Bisley is always good, it can be the coldest windiest day and it is still good, there is just something about driving into the gate that gets me going.

The wife did not have such a great day with her SVD - she has a wandering zero issue that is driving her crazy, she begrudgingly shot 30 through mine today and she is a superb shot, my guess is with a bit more experience with my rifle she would beat me hands down, I really hope she will relegate the SVD to a number two and get something that she can really work with.

The only down side was the 3+ hour drive home.
Imho the adage 'It's not guns that kill people etc.' is absolute nonsense.

Why are you doing an anti guns tance.................

No Jenks it's your assumption that people do NOT kill people that is nonsense. No gun has ever loaded itself and proceeded to kill someone end of story and you know it.

# So what does that say about the mentality of those who wish to carry concealed firearms? # Im don;t know what do you say it says.

Personally I think it means absolutely sod all. In your mind it will mean what you want. The sample is so small as to be irrelevant when corelated against US and global stats. Research also shows that cops have more accidental shooting of people than civilians and an armed civilian is LSS likely to shhot than a cop but when they do they usually hit the intended target!. Research also shows that CCW / Armed civilians prevent over 2 MILLION crimes a year in the US so your sample is in effect nothing.

neither you nor I are qualified to comment on the research if nothing else because the information does not cover any number of things. like how mnany NON CCW holders were arrested for the same offence. How many had CCW training, how many reports were from aggreived perps who were frightened off etc etc.

I appreciate you like to play the Liberal victim Jenks, but one swallow does not make a spring and the fact remains that MORE PERPS commit crimes than the law abiding with or without guns.

By your reckoning and view, if only one person could run a 4 minute mile we should all be able to do it. Which is clearly silly.

Bottom line is, who do YOU want to rely on for protection, you, the cops, Durex or Smith and Wesson option - hope it never happens to you, better someone else instead???

How many people today would still be alive if they had a gun? Ask any woman who has just been raed if she was happy with the police response time in preventing the attack....
#"Don't blame the gun!

Too many people give the gun a personna! It is an inanimate object." #

Yes of course it is, For arguments sake so is a coat hanger. So how many people a year are done to death with a coat hanger. Imho the adage 'It's not guns that kill people etc.' is absolute nonsense. Just have a look at these figures. All is not well in concealed carry land if these figures hold water.. (can't vouch for the veracity just googled)

Key Statistics:

From January 1, 1996 to October 9, 1997 Texas concealed handgun license holders were arrested for 946 crimes. Of these, 263 were felony arrests, including: six charges of murder or attempted murder involving at least four deaths; two charges of kidnapping; 18 charges of sexual assault; 66 charges of assault, including 48 cases of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; and, 42 weapon-related charges. Six-hundred eighty-three were misdemeanor arrests, including: 194 weapon-related charges and 215 instances of driving while intoxicated. In the first six months of 1997 (the most recent complete data set available), the weapon-related arrest rate among Texas concealed handgun license holders was more than twice as high as that of the general population of Texas aged 21 and older.

In the two years since Texas' "shall-issue" law went into effect, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has received more than 940 arrest reports involving concealed handgun license holders. In October 1997, the Violence Policy Center received a list of arrest incidents involving Texas' concealed handgun license holders from DPS in Austin, Texas. These records list all felony, misdemeanor, and miscellaneous incidents involving concealed handgun license holders between January 1, 1996 and October 9, 1997. License to Kill includes several anecdotes of arrest incidents as well as charts that list arrest incidents by offense type.

From within the above text .. The most salient point..

In the first six months of 1997 (the most recent complete data set available), the weapon-related arrest rate among Texas concealed handgun license holders was more than twice as high as that of the general population of Texas aged 21 and older.

Then off to Siberia at 100/200 to chrono but *someone* forgot the arms DOH! so we amused ourselves by obliterating V's at 200 and she even shot a very discreet smiley pattern.
Its obvious that there is a massive difference between what we experience in the UK, and what people experience in places like Texas. Whilst I have said that I think it perhaps a bit too much to have shot them dead, I haven't been on the recieving end of this type of crime, and hopefully never will be, but I guess not having the same level of violent crime over here probably makes us all the more flippant and probably makes it too easy to just say, well the guy was wrong to shoot, chuck him in the slammer.

Blu has raised some very good points and also illustrated the general feeling in the US of shoot first and ask questions later, and if they are dead, tough titty. This is obviously because of the amount of burgluries that have evolved into something a whole lot worse and there is the feeling that you don't take the chance of not shooting. So I can see why the old guy did what he did.

I appreciate your point and certainly wouldn't want to have to go though what you did on that fatal RTA. The whole stop was handled in a very polite manner by the WPC and I know that they are just doing their job. I certainly don't condone drink driving in any way.
My real is issue whether a blanket operation does more to alienate the law abiding majority than the good it does.

A more targetted approach would seem to be more appropriate than stopping every one.
Automatic number plate recognition cameras should be able to weed out the uninsured, untaxed, etc. Not wearing a seatbelt should be obvious to see.
The drink driver is more of a difficult one and I suppose at 10:30 on a Friday night, there is a fair chance that someone could be over.
The downside of the targetted approach could well result in accusations of harrassment of typical targets as discussed earlier in the thread.
Jenks, nope your perfectly clear mate, what I'm trying to say is while the law and the Muslim elders may set the standards for settling disputes I can't see all Muslims adhering to it and simply because it is not Muslim law the way they see it. Jenks, Muslim men just in the way they treat females are still living in the Dark ages FFS.
Jenks, yep I agree with you mate, both are shocking. It's little wonder why people here are fed up with the **** going on and taking the law into their own hands. Simple fact is Jenks the cops here as in a lot of countries are overwhelmed, folks here have had enough of being victims and now with the laws the way they are they no longer have to be. So the rule is simple mate, obey the law and you'll do just fine, break it, well then there will be consequences.
forgive me I seem to be having a problem making myself understood. I'm sure the fault is mine. Lol.

#Lord Phillips said: "There is no reason why sharia principles, or any other religious code, should not be the basis for mediation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

"It must be recognised, however, that any sanctions for a failure to comply with the agreed terms of mediation would be drawn from the laws of England and Wales."

Severe physical punishments such as flogging, stoning and the cutting off of hands would not be acceptable, he said.

He added: "There can be no question of such courts sitting in this country, or such sanctions being applied here.

"So far as the law is concerned, those who live in this country are governed by English and Welsh law and subject to the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts."#

Hope that does it.
"a longer barrel barrel 22lr would have more fps then a shorter 16 inch barrel 22lr.
not that it would matter and make much difference for the ranges you use 22lr for anyway"

No it doesn’t Jamie, not in a .22rf. in fact the longer the barrel the more friction that is imported to the bullet after the powder has finished burning.
The powder is all burnt up in the first 16” which means that the bullet is simply travelling forward under residual pressure for the remaining time in the barrel and won’t increase in velocity no matter how much longer the barrel is.
Full bore rifles……..yes; the longer the barrels then the slower the powder you can use for a maximum burn and longer range shooting.
But for a .22rf, shooting ordinary sub’s, then anything from 16” – 24” will shoot @ 1050 – 1080 fps
Jenks, yep he could have shot them in the legs, then it's off to Hospital, then off to prison, then deportation when they get out, and a short time later sneak back into the country. And all at the tax payers expense.

This is America mate, you choose to go house breaking then there is a good chance your going to get killed. I have no sympathy for these people.

I'm fed up hearing about the civil liberties and rights of scumbags, what we hear very little about is the rights of the victims of these crimes. Well these two are now dead and I hope they are both rottting in hell.
Yes, several times, and will do so at the next general election.

I am of the opinion that NEW Labour has got the country in such a dificult situation, it is now doing its best to lose the next election on purpose, because they have no idea how to get the country back on its feet again. What other explanation is there for the set of clowns in Government doing what they are doing.
Jenks, "Don't see a problem with a similar system for Muslims"

I do mate, for a start the Muslims are nothing like the Jews when it comes to settling disputes, the words "Honour Killing" springs to mind.

I can just see it a couple of years from now,

Defence Lawyer: It was an Honour killing M'lud, his wife cheated on him.

Judge: Ah well that's ok, under Shariah that's allowed, no case to answer, the defendant is dismissed.

The Muslims and some of their laws need to come into the 21st century before anyone starts thinking about incorporating laws.
Have to agree with Petrus. Couldn't give a monkeys about the villains, but Mr. Horn just couldn't wait to get out there and start Killing. Both shot in the back, so they were in flight mode as opposed to attack mode. He could have stopped them by shooting them in the legs.
Yeah I coined the "waste management" thing in Az when we were joking around and somebody asked what I did for a living.

I said "waste management" (cos of lots of army guys there who asked if we did Christmas, Easter etc - HONEST! ) I then explained...............

"If your government wants someone wasted ....... I can manage that....!"

Got a good laugh.
IT WAS JUST A JOKE - BEFORE SOMEBODY HAS A HEART ATTACK
Jenks, I don't disagree with that point..., but I don't see the Debtors (Scotland) act in Islamabad or Istanbul.....

Sorry but you live in another counry then you go with their rules and as we have seen give them an inch and they always want MORE.

More to the point, I can see some interesting debats when a case ends up in an English court and a "verdict" has already been given by Shariah. Our courts are loath to do anything to upset Muslims remember.
How can two legal systems run side by side - NO!.

What they seem to say is that "shariah" has no actual LEGAL basis but if you use it and it does not work or you are not happy with the rsult then you can go to court. As long as it is not Muslim WOMEN who are involved then that theory should work just fine eh! If a family is toytally Shariah the there is fact chance of a women getting ANY deal.

Of course only a SMALL minority ( I would think) actually want and actually adhere to Shariah!

At any rate we already have a law system in this country and the JEWS certainly do not abuse our legal system like the others are doing.
# MAY AS WELL GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE???? And seeing as the BNP are saying all the right buzz words at the moment why not them?? THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!!#

What in your opinion are the right buzz words? And just because they are saying them doesn't mean they would ever put what they say into practice. Did you have look at the link I provided about the performance of the already elected councillors really pathetic. Besides do you really think the likes of Grifffin and Collett are fit to govern. Be honest with yourself. Look I am not happy with this lot nor do I think the Tory’s have all the answers but that doesn't mean. The morons that lead the bnp do.

# TURN ON THE NEWS THIS MORNING WHAT DO WE FIND??? Some frigging judge saying that we should accept and use parts of Shiria law in our country as our law,,,,Yeh Right!! well he and go and do one!!#

That some friggin judge was, Lord Phillips, the Lord Chief Justice, and what he said was that sharia and other religious laws could be used for mediation in disputes if both parties agreed. The Jews in the UK have similar arrangements.

You then go on to moan about property prices in Cornwall well it the same just about all over the UK. You bemoan the fact that Cornish people can’t afford to but locally. When I first started out I couldn’t afford to live in a village locally. I didn’t whinge and bemoan the fact I did what most people do, that’s work hard and save. Tell me when you come to sell your house are you going to offer it to a Cornish family at a knock down price. Or sell it for the best price you can get. ( that is a rhetorical question)

And now ‘Rivers of Blood’ you have been saying that now for god knows how many years. If you keep on saying it maybe one day you will be able to say “see I told you so.” Vote bnp and you just might be right sooner than you expect.
Chuck, take a look at the Texas Department of Corrections web site, once there type in Death Row, it gives info along with Pics of all the inmates on death row. have a look at how many of the crimes started out as a home invasion then ended up as a rape and murder cases. As I said in an earlier post mate, two less scumbags to worry about.
Here's the link for death row
As no one else seems to wish to acknowledge it. At least they voted to keep their pay rise more or less in line with inflation. Oh, and my MP voted for the proposed change to the allowance scheme.

Now before you rush to wind into me i am as appalled as the next man over the over generous and frequently misused Additional cost Allowance. I have made my MP aware of my feelings.. Have you?
To the point Blu.

Since we were not there it's difficult to form an opinion and if the old boy was a combat vet then it could be that emotion is not something that would show up, I think it was FRUSTRATION that got the better of him.

Also had the old fella been a victim already. You can't help wondering if some anti clown would say (Oh you're too old, they would just take the gun from you etc etc) WRONG!!!!!

At the end of the day if you choose to commit robbery in Texas then you do so at your own risk. Sod all this "gun free zone" crap, that's just asking for trouble.

I think maybe some "reminder" about the laws on armed defence would be appropriate but not jail, loss of any FAC or community service (he already did that big time when he pulled the trigger) after all he was just "taking out" the trash!
The answer to the question you posed is in the text of the link you provided. Did you not read it?

#"It must be recognised, however, that any sanctions for a failure to comply with the agreed terms of mediation would be drawn from the laws of England and Wales."

Severe physical punishments such as flogging, stoning and the cutting off of hands would not be acceptable, he said.

He added: "There can be no question of such courts sitting in this country, or such sanctions being applied here.

"So far as the law is concerned, those who live in this country are governed by English and Welsh law and subject to the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts." #
Yes what Peter Starkley says is correct .most Black powder now comes in 1kg tubs ,I find that for storage and transport the 1lb tubs are the best ,as Lee said 2kg would be what he needed that is why I advise to make 6 compartments to hold 1lb tubs.I agree there is no given rule for this it is what I find best and have been doing for many decades .
Red dot, An open licence allows you to shoot on any land where you have lawfull authority to shoot. It has nothing to do with what you intend to shoot. A "closed" licence only allows you to shoot on named land.
Falling out with that FEO was not a good move.
I'd like to add that if I was in a situation where I had to defend either myself, my family or another member of the public from a deadly confrontation, then I would have no qualms about using total and deadly force, and I feel it would be justified.

But this incident in Texas, it just seems that the shooter was not in imminent danger.

Just my opinion.
25 Pdr, you asked...

"OK The old Guy shouldn't have shot them in the back,(I know I wouldn't have). But what if any punishment do you think he should have got?

Any suggestions???????????

And let's say he was your friend/Dad/Grandad. What punishment do you think he then deserves?"

The honest answer to that is I simply don't know, you make a good point about if it had been a relative doing the shooting, how would I feel. I'd probably defend them vigorously, but at the end of the day it wouldn't be my choice if they got prosecuted or not.

I think the bigger question here should be was what he did actually acceptable and what would the law do about it, well we know in Texas at least they did pretty much nothing and let him off.

Here (UK), you would get thrown to the wolves.

I really don't have the answers and we could debate this for ever and a day, I just don't think that shooting them in the back in this instance was the right thing to do, but as I said, I wasn't there so cannot possibly make an accurate judgement either way.

Sorry I can't answer your question with anything more definitive because its simply too big an issue with too many complexities to be totally black and white. Its possible that they might have done something during the incident to warrant the use of deadly force whether running away or not, we don't know, but going off what I heard on the tape, I'd say not in this case.
i allways leave the mod off after shooting if you leave it on the dam inside from the powder runs down the mod onto the thread crown ans into the barrel.

so its worth taking off it only takes a matter of seconds. if not and it does your barrel in then thats a cut thread and crown you have to fork out for !
My .308 is fitted with a 20x42 Optimate scope which gives me 55 minutes of adjustment above my 200 yard zero. With my handloads I actually need around 42 minutes at 1,000 yards so there's plenty in hand.
From the tape, the guy's prime objective was that they should not be allowed to leave the scene. The dispatcher told him an officer was en-route, but the guy saw them fleeing with a swag-bag. At this, he obviously could take no more, leaving his house and telling them, "you move you're dead." I assume they ran (moved) so ended up dead.

Does this mean we can have Muslim/Sharia style punishments for wrong doers then?

"Anyone want tickets for Wembley Public Punishment Day? Let's see what have we got.Well to start the programme off we have three hand choppings, one for the second time because of previous offences. Later in the morning there will be the hangings but we guarantee each will last at least five minutes. After lunch there will be the first of two beheadings to lead into the finale, the stonings. We have two for your entertainment, one male, one female.Stones of the correct size will be provided."
Hear! Hear! Barney1. Jihadis and their warped supporter's need to be confronted. Many have been forced to bite their lip while Labour have been dominant, but their dominance is now at an end. Re: BNP being a waisted vote, no chance. The Tories will win with such a majority, that a big BNP vote will only serve to remind them (the tories) that the people demand action.

Ok, I'm down off my fence now.

They might have been scum and deserved to be punished for their criminal actions, but in this instance I have to agree with Chuck. I too think that this particular case smacks of someone pulling the trigger simply because they could.

Don't get me wrong, I too believe that in the right circumstances, the perp should be dealt with in the most extreme fashion, and if that means shooting them then so be it, I just don't think this was one of those instances.

Another thing, is it just me or was that guy cool, calm and collected or wot? He knew exactly what he was doing and he did it with consumate skill. No stress getting in the way of his shots there eh.

That said, they did chose the criminal road so I don't actually have any sympathy for them, I just think that to have shot them dead was somewhat extreme.

Perhaps a few warning shots would have sufficed.

But then again I wasn't there so I could be totally wrong in my judgement.
